Call for Applications - early-career non-tenured researchers preparing new MSCA and ERC proposals
This call aims to support early-career and non-tenured researchers who have previously applied for European funding schemes (MSCA or ERC) and received an excellent evaluation outcome (Seal of Excellence or score A) without ultimately being awarded funding.
The Rebond Europe – MSCA/ERC support programme, designed to support the preparation and submission of a new European proposal, provides a research contract together with a dedicated research budget. It is funded by the Sorb’Rising project of the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne
Eligibility criteria
Who can apply ?
- Early-career non-tenured researchers who have applied to the Marie SkłodowskaCurie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships programme and been awarded the “Seal of Excellence”, with a view to preparing and submitting either a new MSCA application or an ERC application, provided that they meet the eligibility requirements of the
targeted call. - Early-career or non-tenured researchers who have submitted an European Research Council proposal as Principal Investigator and achieved a score A at the first evaluation stage, with a view to preparing and submitting a new ERC application, provided that they meet the eligibility requirements of the targeted call.
Successful applicants commit to submitting a new proposal within the first 12 months of the Sorb’Rising Rebond Europe – MSCA/ERC funding period, within a research laboratory within the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne perimeter, with the following Host Institution :
- For MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships : Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne or a national research organization (CNRS or IRD) managing the laboratory to which the supervisor is affiliated (in accordance with the terms of the inter-institutional site agreement);
- For ERC applications : Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Nature of the funding
Selected projects will benefit from:
- A one-year research contract, renewable for an additional six months;
- a research budget of up to €15,000;
- for MSCA-PF applications: support from the European projects team of the host institution (the Paris 1 Projects Office or the relevant CNRS/IRD regional European office), as well as participation in a dedicated masterclass;
- for ERC applications : enhanced support from the Projects Office of Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
Application file
Applications must include the following documents :
- the prior MSCA or ERC application;
- the MSCA evaluation summary report or ERC evaluation report including the score
obtained; - a copy of the “Seal of Excellence” certificate, if already issued by the European
Commission at the time of application; - a presentation of the future MSCA-PF or ERC project to be prepared during the Sorb’Rising funding period, following the template provided below;
- a budget covering the duration of the Sorb’Rising funding period;
- for MSCA-PF projects only: a support letter from the scientific supervisor affiliated with a Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne research laboratory;
- a hosting letter signed by the director of the Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne laboratory;
- a written commitment to submit a new MSCA-PF or ERC proposal with as Host Institution:
- for MSCA-PF applications, the beneficiary institution designated under the
inter-institutional site agreement (Paris 1, CNRS, or IRD), and - for ERC applications, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
